New SEO client, new site design. Two weeks after going live, conversions are up 97% and sales are +$34,000.
What did we change?
Simpler = better.
- improved how intuitive the menu/navigation was
- minimized the hero/header on the home page to bring the content up above the fold
- improved call-to-action above the fold
- added links directly to product categories instead of focusing on random “featured” products
- added WHITE SPACE!!!
Drop the excessively fancy designs. You’re not impressing anyone except your college graphics design teacher. And even that’s a maybe.
And use compelling, easy-to-read, SEO optimized content. I’ve seen some of the most basic, bland sites outrank and outperform “pretty” websites on copywriting alone.
Make your website simple and intuitive. Hold your customer’s hand and guide them where you want them to go.
