Business seems to have a cycle to it. I wrote about it in 2018, and it’s still applicable today…
Every few years there is a “new chapter” in my career. And I feel like I’m in one now.
I remember starting my SEO company 11 years ago. Super busy for a few years. Then “I made it.” I reached what I thought was reasonable success.
But you’re still growing slowly without noticing. Then one day you realize how much you’ve grown and how much more you can achieve.
Then it repeats.
Accurate, and in another change of cycles now.
The original post had a tiny bit more, mentioning things like, “My SEO book is still in the works.
Pretty wild reading about things that used to not exist, but do now, and have had such a positive impact on my life and readers of the book.
Shortly after writing that post I made an internal note called “SELL GOALS.txt.” It was the “what if” number. IF I hit that number, I could sell the business and, if I protected that investment well, could live off of it indefinitely.
I hit that goal two years later. Another two years after that, I doubled it.
Yet, I have less interest in selling now than I did back then, because I feel I have more to grow. More to give to the online community. More impact to make, and legacy to build.
Q1 2024 was another “I made it” phase, followed by one of the biggest learning curves I’ve had owning this agency for 17 years.
Adjusted in Q2, recovered in Q3, and back to “I made it” this December. But instead of growing slowly without noticing, I already realize how much I’ve grown this year and how much more I can achieve.
This year was probably the most personal and professional growth I’ve experienced, ever.
With lessons learned, and self-alignment centered, 2025 is going to be amazing.
