My son is obsessed with soccer. The other day we were at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico and there’s a longer story about hearing the Chivas soccer team was at our hotel.

He kept asking if we could go look for them. This hotel was massive. Like, 100 acres across 30 buildings.

I kept telling him “yes, we will go look for them” with every intention of doing so. Even bought him the only soccer ball we could find so they could sign it if we found them.  But I also wanted to spend time with my kids. So we had a bunch of excursions in between, mud ATV’ing, swimming in cenotes, and next thing I know two days had flown by.

I wasn’t going to leave breaking my promise, so my wife stayed with the other kids, and my son and I finally set out to try and find the Chivas players.

He was literally one skip ahead of me, hopped on the bus, the door shut between us, and nearly drove off without me. Looking straight ahead my son looked panicked.

I was tapping on the door with my ring finger hoping the ring would make the tap loud enough the bus driver would hear.

He finally heard and for some reason had to manually, forcefully open the other front door with his hands. Finally got on with my son.

The circus was worth it. We did it!  Went and walked around the lobby and found the Chivas team.

“Dad, what do I say?”

I helped him walk up.  They were super kind, took pics, and mission accomplished with a signed soccer ball. ⚽️ ✍️
