Flew into Arizona this morning to support a new client, The Benefit Doctor. I didn’t “have” to join them to have my team SEO their site. I wanted to, and for something else.
Separate from SEO, I wanted to inspire their sales team in the power of sharing their journeys on social media.
The crew was awesome. They were welcoming and vulnerable. They related to me talking about how much I love my team, my wife, and kids. About evangelizing the people around you, your friends, your clients, the people you love.
People follow you for your expertise, but they convert when they relate to you as a human.
Giving without expecting in return was the theme. Practicing what I preach, I flew out on my dime. Shipped a few dozen books on my dime.
Hung out after, answered questions, signed books.
The gratitude and a-ha moments the group shared with me in return made it all worth it.
When you genuinely support others without expecting in return you end up getting more than you could have expected to begin with.
