I have a legit full page in my contracts that is titled “Reasons NOT to Hire Us.” Because telling certain people to go away is one of the best things I ever did to INCREASE conversions, like the attached client we just closed.
All the things you like about good clients, write them out as requirements in your agreements. Better yet, the types of customers that make the thought of pounding your head into the wall sound like a romantic idea… write those out as required non-negotiables.When you establish boundaries, people don’t run away like you’re worried about. They’re attracted to you because you positioned yourself as an authority.
The more transparent about your preferred rules of engagement:
- the more efficient you are at what you do
- the more educated your customers are to help themselves help you perform
- the MORE PEOPLE CONVERT
